Where the Chocolate Lady Works

On our way back from Northern Georgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, we stopped by Jen’s Bed and Breakfast and chocolate shop in Highland, Illinois. We arrived tired and weak from 10 hours on the road. Jen showed us around and then we walked down to the Highland town square for dinner and drinks. The town square was practically around the corner and we had a good meal at the local pub.

The bed and breakfast, Tibbit’s house, has three bedrooms with private baths and is situated above a chocolate shop called The Chocolate Affair. Jen has packaged stays, during which guests can have “death by chocolate” parties and can raid the chocolate cases for midnight snacking. The shop itself is lovely, exactly as you’d want it with a plethora of gifts for chocolate lovers or to accompany chocolate. The cases are full of Jen’s goodies. She makes most of it, only getting the truffles from suppliers.

I am so impressed and proud of her for this business endeavor. I hope that perhaps making these pictures available to others will also help spread the word that this is a cool place to go, stay, or simply order a gift basket online.

My Friend

After having a lovely dinner, with mediocre, rather funny service. We played in the downtown Highland pub.
We danced. There was no dance floor, but we danced anyway. I think that we slightly scared the locals.

Jen and mom have always had a close relationship. It is nice to see that nothing has changed.

All of us in the fountain in the highland, town square. I certainly hope that this isn't illegal.
